FIELD GUIDE / COSTS

The price after
the welcome offer.

A useful hosting budget includes the year you renew, not just the day you sign up.

Separate the price from the payment schedule

An advertised monthly rate may require payment for a longer term. Record the initial term, total amount due and renewal price. Our calculator allocates costs month by month so different terms can be understood; it does not reproduce the provider’s invoice timing.

Write down the extras

Email accounts, automated backups, security features, managed support, control-panel licenses, databases and extra sites may be included, optional or usage-billed. Put fixed monthly add-ons into the calculator. Keep variable charges in a separate budget.

Check usage-sensitive charges

Bandwidth, outbound transfer, storage, build minutes, function execution, API requests and database resources can affect a platform bill. Check what happens when a limit is reached: an overage, a paused service or a required upgrade are different outcomes.

Treat the domain as its own line item

Record the first-year and renewal price independently. Check whether a bundled domain renews separately and what happens if you cancel hosting. ICANN’s renewal guide explains why registration terms and expiration policies matter.

Know what the calculator assumes

All amounts use your selected currency; there is no currency conversion. Intro pricing lasts the number of months entered, then the renewal rate applies. Fixed add-ons recur monthly, domain charges annually and the setup fee once. Taxes, exchange movements, variable usage and later rate increases are excluded. All example amounts are illustrative, not provider offers.
